With their three-minute snippets of juicy and biting future-tense electro-rock, Stimulant are all about instant gratification. Herein, one finds more than slightly sexed and pleasingly mischievous vibe, particularly on “Velvatine”, a song oozing with distorted nastiness. This is a band that has a very unique sound that could sufficiently light up just about any rock crowd. (Luke Pyles, Northeast Performer Magazine, May 2000)
Stimulant creates a crisp, retro, synth sound on this, their debut CD Underground. The band has a consistent sound through-out the CD with an enjoyable soundscape of alterna-goth where listeners can immerse themselves. From the addictive dirty groove of “Pleasure Fiend”, where they sing, “Last night I saw another part of me/ it wanted more/ and it frightened me/ it consumes/ and it needs to feed/ its what I call the pleasure fiend”. Their lyrics have a dark but somewhat sarcastic edge. That bodes well with the sound Stimulant is seeking. (Simon Cantlon, The Noise, March 2000)

“ I like the shrillness of the guitar work and the general attitude. It takes on some of the nice elements of mid to late 80s rock - Cure, Cult, Love and Rockets, Jesus and Mary Chain, . . .”, anonymous, (garageband.com)
