Stimulant is rock band formed in 1995 and actively played through 2003. Stimulant's music is about the human experience....
feeling and living.... love, hate, lust, confusion, frustration, anger, loss, and hope. The band’s sound has been compared to bands
such as Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains, Foo Fighters, Nickelback, A Perfect Circle, Tool, Metallica, and the Smashing
Pumpkins.
In 2003, the band took an indefinite hiatus. Kris (vocals) has been running Akamai's Digital Media business, continuing to work within
the Media and Entertainment industry, enabling individual artists like Radiohead to Apple iTunes over Akamai. Pete (bass) is published
author and producer, working on a several new books, scripts, and film projects. Jym (drums) has been playing in the band the Blue
Bloods. Mark (guitar) has been MIA.
Stimulant has released 2 albums, Underground and the self titled Stimulant. Their latest album was recorded at River’s Edge in
Haverhill MA leveraging sound engineering and production tools used by Godsmack for their Awake album. The band used a similar
set-ups for recording to capture a big rock sound.
The last album has a harder edge than the band’s first 4 song album. The album was produced by Kris Alexander and Stimluant.
The songs and tone of the CD focus on an array of emotions
and situations faced by singer Kris Alexander in trying to find his own identity and a path on life's journey.
Stimulant’s first release entitled Underground was produced by Scott Riebling who also produced and played in
Letters to Cleo. Underground was released on February 1st 2000,
and promoted nationally to radio by Powderfinger Promotions. Underground was the #17 top add the week of
Feb 14th 2000 at CMJ, and was in regular rotation at 95 stations nationally in
the first few weeks. The EP also sold out at Amazon.com in its first week.
Stimulant completed a tour down the East Cost and through the Great Lakes region of the the U.S. following the release of Stimulant
Underground, and has been been playing more shows through-out the northeastern U.S.
Stimulant began with a handful of songs and an idea that was started by singer/guitarist Kris Alexander and guitarist Mark Bona.
In their previous band, Cosmic Trigger, they wrote, recorded, and released a two song CD in the fall of 1997 to northeast college radio
which charted and went into rotation at 45 for 8 weeks. Kris studied with vocal coach Mark Baxtar, who also works with Aerosmith,
Van Halen, Coal Chamber, and the Goo Goo Dolls. Guitarist, Mark Bona, had studied at Berklee College of Music previously.
In the spring of 2000, drummer Jym Bagtaz joined the band from another local Boston band, Uncool Niece, and had attended
Northeastern University studying music business. Bassist, Pete Conrad, previously played in multiple projects including South Paw.
